Launching a determined campaign across the fertile agrarian expanse of Pollachi parliamentary constituency on March 30, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin rallied voters to elect veteran administrator and DMK candidate Pongalur N. Palanisamy with a commanding majority. Stalin addressed bustling gatherings of coconut cultivators, coir factory laborers, dairy farmers, and rural youth, emphasizing Palanisamy's proven administrative experience and unblemished record in advancing western Tamil Nadu's rural infrastructure. He highlighted that Pollachi's famous coconut economy was reeling under severe distress due to whitefly pest infestations, drought, and collapsing market prices, while the AIADMK regime offered zero procurement support or processing subsidies. Stalin recalled the major developmental milestones achieved under previous DMK administrations led by Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi, including the Paramikulam-Aliyar Project modernization, establishing rural agro-industrial estates, and providing free electricity for agrarian pump sets. He urged the electorate to reject empty ruling party promises and vote decisively for the Rising Sun symbol to restore agricultural prosperity. Stalin affirmed that the DMK stands permanently committed to Pollachi's farming communities and rural progress. He affirmed that supporting agrarian producers remains central to sustainable rural economic growth.
