Public meeting at Vellore just got over, minorities are very worried about AIADMK's secret pact with BJP.
Addressing a massive and emotionally charged election gathering in Vellore on April 1, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin revealed that religious minorities across Tamil Nadu were deeply alarmed by Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's covert political understanding with the Bharatiya Janata Party. Stalin noted that during his interactions with Muslim and Christian community leaders, scholars, and trade associations in Vellore, grave concerns were voiced regarding the AIADMK's calculated refusal to criticize Narendra Modi or the BJP's sectarian manifesto. He explained that this tactical silence was part of an orchestrated post-poll alliance designed to trade Tamil Nadu's secular harmony for personal political protection. Stalin recalled that the DMK under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi had consistently protected minority rights through concrete legislative milestones, including introducing the 3.5 percent exclusive reservation for backward Muslims, constituting the State Minorities Commission, and defending Wakf assets. He warned that any vote for the AIADMK would indirectly strengthen right-wing majoritarian forces seeking to dismantle constitutional pluralism. Stalin affirmed that the DMK remains an impenetrable shield guarding minority dignity and secularism. He affirmed that safeguarding secularism and minority protection remains the sacred mission of the DMK.
