Delivering a scathing critique of the ruling party's inflated political posturing, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on April 1, 2014, questioned how Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa could harbor grandiose national ambitions or justify remaining in office while being prosecuted for serious criminal corruption offenses. Stalin emphasized that Jayalalithaa stood as the prime accused in a massive disproportionate assets trial involving hundreds of crores of unaccounted wealth, vast benami properties, and commercial estates. He pointed out that her relentless pursuit of prime ministerial dreams was nothing more than an orchestrated political distraction aimed at securing institutional immunity and browbeating judicial scrutiny. Stalin asked how someone who consistently evaded court appearances and dragged cases across two decades could represent India's constitutional dignity on the global stage. He reminded citizens that the Dravidian movement, under Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna, and Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi, has always stood for administrative probity, social justice, and institutional accountability. Stalin called upon discerning voters to reject the AIADMK's hypocritical campaign and vote for the DMK-led secular alliance. He affirmed that public probity and constitutional morality must never be compromised for personal power.
