Expressing profound anguish after completing his election campaign across the industrial belt of Ambattur on April 2, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin highlighted how one of Asia's most prestigious small and medium manufacturing estates had been declared sick under the AIADMK regime. Stalin recalled that the Ambattur Industrial Estate was systematically nurtured under previous DMK administrations led by Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi into a bustling manufacturing center housing over two thousand precision engineering, automotive component, and textile units employing lakhs of skilled workers. However, three years of unannounced eight-to-ten-hour power cuts, skyrocketing raw material costs, and total government indifference had forced hundreds of micro-enterprises to shut their shutters permanently, throwing thousands of workers onto the streets. Stalin met with struggling small-scale entrepreneurs and factory laborers who shared their despair over mounting loan interests and vanishing export orders. He pledged that upon coming to power, the DMK will declare a comprehensive revival package for Ambattur, ensuring dedicated uninterrupted power feeders, concessional credit, and infrastructure modernization. Stalin affirmed the DMK's steadfast commitment to reviving Tamil Nadu's manufacturing backbone. He affirmed that micro-enterprises and skilled factory workers constitute the real backbone of Tamil Nadu.
