Highlighting the monumental civic modernization of Chennai, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on April 6, 2014, catalogued the extensive transportation, IT, and civic infrastructure projects planned and executed under previous DMK administrations led by Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Stalin pointed out that nearly every modern arterial corridor and grade separator defining Chennai's cityscape—including the Rajiv Gandhi IT Expressway, the Inner Ring Road, the Koyambedu flyover, the Kathipara grade separator, and the Napier Bridge illumination—was conceived and built by the DMK. In addition, the DMK government initiated the Chennai Metro Rail project, established TIDEL Park, and built dedicated subways to ease urban vehicular congestion. He contrasted this dynamic legacy of infrastructural engineering with the utter stagnation under three years of the AIADMK regime, which failed to start or complete even a single major flyover in Chennai. Stalin emphasized that the DMK views modern urban infrastructure as essential for attracting global investments, generating employment for educated youth, and improving the quality of life for all citizens. He pledged that the DMK will continue to transform Chennai into a world-class metropolis. He affirmed that modern infrastructure and sustainable public transit remain central to the DMK's economic blueprint.
