Leading a high-voltage campaign across the historical constituencies of Central Chennai on April 7, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin invited citizens, youth, and trade union workers to attend a grand election public meeting at Egmore at 9 pm. Stalin campaigned extensively through Egmore, Thousand Lights, Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni, Harbour, and Anna Nagar, rallying voters to secure an overwhelming mandate for DMK candidate Dayanidhi Maran. He pointed out that Central Chennai had always stood as the intellectual and political powerhouse of Tamil Nadu, leading the historic struggles for social justice, linguistic rights, and state autonomy under Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna, and Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Stalin contrasted the visionary urban modernizations carried out during DMK governance with the complete stagnation, rising municipal taxes, and chronic load-shedding imposed by the Jayalalithaa regime. He urged the electorate to attend the Egmore rally in large numbers to send a clear message that Central Chennai stands united behind the Rising Sun symbol. Stalin affirmed that electing Maran ensures strong advocacy for Tamil Nadu's rights in the Lok Sabha. He affirmed that democratic participation and open public dialogue remain the foundation of effective political leadership.
