Continuing his comprehensive presentation on the DMK's historic contributions to temple heritage and cultural conservation, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on April 10, 2014, detailed the extensive material and financial assistance provided to ancient temples across Tamil Nadu under previous DMK administrations. Stalin pointed out that under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi's leadership, the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department constructed magnificent new wooden temple cars (chariots), restored ancient artistic vimanas, and disbursed substantial financial grants to renovate hundreds of neglected rural shrines and village temples. In addition, the DMK government created dedicated welfare funds for temple priests, archakas, and musicians, ensuring their financial dignity and social security while opening archaka training schools to all communities regardless of caste. Stalin contrasted these genuine, tangible cultural contributions with the hollow claims of sectarian political parties that exploit religion for electoral votes while doing nothing to preserve ancient heritage or support humble temple workers. He affirmed that the DMK's rational, secular governance respects cultural heritage and historical preservation. Stalin pledged that the party will continue to protect ancient temples and empower devotees with modern amenities.
