Leading a determined campaign across Arani parliamentary constituency on April 11, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin rallied voters to secure an emphatic victory for DMK candidate R. Sivanandam. Addressing packed gatherings of traditional silk weavers, rice mill workers, sugarcane cultivators, and small merchants, Stalin emphasized that electing an accessible, experienced public servant like R. Sivanandam would ensure that Arani's economic priorities receive robust, passionate advocacy in the Lok Sabha. He pointed out that Arani's world-famous silk weaving industry was facing imminent collapse due to chronic electricity blackouts, soaring zari and silk yarn prices, and total lack of marketing subsidies from the AIADMK regime. Stalin recalled the landmark welfare measures instituted by previous DMK administrations under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi, including free electricity for handloom weavers, modernized silk processing societies, and massive agricultural loan waivers. He urged the electorate to reject empty ruling party promises and cast their votes for the Rising Sun symbol to revitalize traditional weaving, create local jobs, and ensure water security.
