Demolishing the false and exaggerated claims of employment generation made by Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa during her election campaign, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on April 11, 2014, asserted that her rhetoric was completely contradicted by harsh economic realities. Stalin pointed out that rather than creating new employment opportunities, three years of AIADMK governance had witnessed an unprecedented flight of major industrial projects and small manufacturers from Tamil Nadu to neighboring Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Telangana. He highlighted that multinational manufacturing conglomerates, automotive component suppliers, and textile factories had abandoned the state precisely because the Jayalalithaa government failed to provide uninterrupted electrical power and basic administrative support. Stalin recalled that previous DMK administrations under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi transformed Tamil Nadu into India's leading industrial and IT destination, generating millions of jobs through visionary infrastructure planning and special economic zones. He emphasized that claims of high employment generation were an insult to the millions of unemployed engineering graduates and educated youth languishing without jobs. Stalin pledged that the DMK will restore industrial confidence and restart large-scale employment creation. He affirmed that industrial expansion requires dependable infrastructure and visionary policy leadership.
