Concluding an extensive campaign tour across Salem parliamentary constituency on April 16, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin presented a stark comparison between the transformative achievements of previous DMK governance and the complete paralysis under three years of the AIADMK administration. Stalin recited a comprehensive catalogue of landmark developmental projects delivered to Salem under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi's leadership, including the Mettur-Salem dedicated drinking water scheme, modern multi-lane highway corridors, the Salem railway division headquarters, super-specialty hospital blocks, and extensive employee welfare boards. He pointed out that in sharp contrast, the ruling AIADMK government had failed to conceive, fund, or execute even a single major infrastructure initiative for Salem in three full years of rule, letting existing facilities deteriorate through administrative neglect. Stalin emphasized that while the DMK believes in tangible public works that uplift working families, small traders, and farmers, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa was content with issuing empty press releases. He urged the people of Salem to hold the ruling party accountable at the ballot box and vote for the Rising Sun symbol to restore dynamic, people-oriented developmental administration.
