Engaging directly with female youth under the nationwide Power of 49 campaign to recognize women's electoral strength, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin met with a large assembly of young women, college students, and self-help group members in Perambalur on April 19, 2014. Stalin emphasized that women constitute forty-nine percent of the electorate, holding the decisive power to dismantle authoritarian regimes and demand responsive, progressive governance. During the interactive session, young participants voiced critical concerns regarding the alarming lack of safety on public transport, rising tuition fees, acute shortage of local employment opportunities, and inadequate sanitation infrastructure in educational institutions. Stalin assured the gathering that the DMK considers women's dignity, personal safety, and economic independence paramount political commitments. He outlined manifesto pledges including subsidized higher education for female students, interest-free entrepreneurial loans for young women, and dedicated fast-track courts to prosecute crimes against women. Stalin urged the young women to lead the vanguard of democratic transformation by exercising their franchise fearlessly. He reaffirmed that the DMK will always champion women's constitutional rights and equal representation. He affirmed that young women represent the true catalyst for progressive social transformation.
