Sharply questioning the AIADMK government's tall claims regarding public security, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on April 20, 2014, shared alarming video evidence and news reports documenting widespread violence, demanding whether this represented the state's celebrated law and order. Stalin pointed out that brazen daylight robberies, chain snatching incidents, political intimidations, and violent factional clashes had surged across urban centers and rural towns without check. He stated that rather than apprehending dangerous anti-social syndicates and protecting vulnerable citizens, the state police apparatus had been reduced to a political enforcement tool tasked with harassing opposition parties and suppressing legitimate democratic protests. Stalin highlighted that ordinary families, especially working women and elderly residents, lived in constant anxiety due to the visible absence of proactive neighborhood policing. He recalled that during DMK governance under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi, strict operational independence was afforded to law enforcement, ensuring immediate apprehension of criminals and absolute communal peace. Stalin asserted that public security cannot be maintained through empty administrative press releases, urging the government to restore basic law enforcement competence. He affirmed that safeguarding civilian safety requires professional and independent police administration.
