Expressing severe dismay over the sluggish pace of investigation following the twin explosions at Chennai Central railway station, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on May 4, 2014, condemned the state government for displaying acute administrative apathy and failing to coordinate proactively with federal investigative agencies. Stalin pointed out that days after the deadly explosion on the Guwahati-bound train, state investigative agencies had failed to achieve any significant breakthrough, secure vital forensic evidence, or identify the extremist network responsible for the crime. He criticized the state government's reluctance to collaborate transparently with the National Investigation Agency, warning that jurisdictional friction between state and central bodies only aids escaping conspirators. Stalin stressed that public security in a major metropolitan transit gateway cannot be treated with such casual bureaucratic indifference. He demanded that Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa take direct charge of the emergency response, convene a high-level security review with federal officials, and brief the public transparently on preventive measures. Stalin reaffirmed that the DMK will relentlessly hold the administration accountable until safety is restored across public transit hubs. He affirmed that rigorous intelligence sharing remains essential to protect citizens from terror.
