Preparing the party for critical strategic deliberations following the 2014 general elections, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin announced on May 20, 2014, that the DMK High-Level Working Committee would convene at party headquarters in Chennai on June 2 under the presidency of Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Stalin explained that the comprehensive conclave was convened to conduct a thorough, candid evaluation of the recent electoral results, review field-level organizational coordination across all parliamentary constituencies, and formulate structural reforms to strengthen grassroots units. He underscored that internal democracy and structured collective consultation remain fundamental pillars of the Dravidian movement, allowing district leaders, senior office-bearers, and party elders to voice insights freely. Stalin indicated that the leadership would deliberate upon decentralizing administrative responsibilities, reorganizing larger district units into responsive committees, and expanding dedicated wings for youth, students, and women. He emphasized that temporary electoral setbacks cannot shake the ideological foundations of a movement built on social justice, rationalism, and federal rights. Stalin called upon party functionaries to participate with constructive commitment, working collectively to invigorate grassroots cadres and champion public causes across Tamil Nadu.
