Paying rich tribute to one of India's most distinguished statesmen, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on June 5, 2014, commemorated the birth anniversary of revered national leader Quaid-e-Millat Muhammad Ismail, celebrating his lifelong struggle for secular brotherhood and the upliftment of minority communities. Stalin highlighted Quaid-e-Millat's extraordinary contributions as a member of the Constituent Assembly, where he passionately defended fundamental minority rights while championing the official recognition of Tamil as a national language. He recalled the intimate political partnership and mutual respect shared between Quaid-e-Millat, Perarignar Anna, and Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi, which cemented an enduring alliance of secular and social justice values in Tamil Nadu. Stalin remarked that Quaid-e-Millat's exemplary modesty, unimpeachable integrity, and parliamentary brilliance remain a beacon for all contemporary political leaders. He emphasized that the DMK has perpetually upheld his inclusive vision, notably through historic policy measures including 3.5 percent reservation for backward Muslims and establishing the Urdu Academy. Stalin urged citizens and youth to draw inspiration from Quaid-e-Millat's noble life, standing united against communal divisiveness and safeguarding Tamil Nadu's vibrant social harmony and pluralistic heritage. He affirmed that communal brotherhood remains the bedrock of Tamil social cohesion.
