(2/2) Our struggles in past yeilded the right to communicate, study, right exams in mother tongue for TN.
Paying reverent homage to the sacrifices of Dravidian language martyrs, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on June 19, 2014, reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu's hard-won rights to study, communicate, and write recruitment examinations in the mother tongue are non-negotiable constitutional achievements. Stalin emphasized that these linguistic freedoms were not bestowed as administrative favors but were won through decades of relentless struggles, mass agitations, and supreme sacrifices led by Thanthai Periyar, Perarignar Anna, and Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi. He noted that the historic Anti-Hindi agitations protected generations of Tamil youth from becoming second-class citizens within their own nation, enabling Tamil Nadu to emerge as a global hub for education, engineering, and healthcare. Stalin cautioned that any attempts by central authorities to impose Hindi through subtle administrative circulars or examination eligibility criteria would be met with uncompromising resistance from the people of Tamil Nadu. He called upon the youth and student community to remain vigilant guardians of their cultural heritage and linguistic autonomy. Stalin pledged that the DMK would unceasingly defend Tamil language rights, federal equality, and constitutional pluralism against all forms of cultural encroachment.
