Cop killed in Vellore district by the sand mafia. Yet an other incident of deteriorating law and order situation in the current Jaya regime.
Expressing profound shock and grief over the brutal murder of an on-duty police officer by ruthless illegal sand miners in Vellore district, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on July 20, 2014, cited the tragedy as devastating proof of the total breakdown of law and order in Tamil Nadu. Stalin remarked that when law enforcement personnel tasked with maintaining public safety are brazenly slaughtered by commercial syndicates in broad daylight, the safety of ordinary citizens becomes completely compromised. He pointed out that unchecked illicit sand quarrying across the Palar and Cauvery river basins had flourished because corrupt officials and ruling party politicians shielded mafia kingpins from criminal prosecution. Stalin noted that while previous DMK administrations under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi maintained firm deterrence against organized syndicates through specialized police task forces, the AIADMK regime had crippled police morale and compromised administrative vigilance. Offering heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family of the martyred police officer, Stalin demanded the immediate arrest of all conspirators under stringent anti-gangster laws alongside independent judicial monitoring. He vowed that the DMK would unceasingly fight to dismantle mafia-politician nexus and restore public safety across Tamil Nadu.
