Championing educational equity and linguistic justice for aspiring public servants, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on July 22, 2014, emphasized that permitting regional languages in Union Public Service Commission examinations is essential to democratize civil services recruitment. Stalin argued that India's civil bureaucracy must mirror the rich linguistic and socio-economic diversity of the nation rather than favoring a privileged, urban, English-medium elite. He explained that allowing candidates to write both the preliminary civil services aptitude test and the main examinations in their mother tongue would unlock immense administrative potential among brilliant youth from rural government schools and disadvantaged families. Stalin recalled that the Dravidian movement had always spearheaded the struggle against linguistic discrimination, pointing out that previous DMK governments under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi enabled state public service examinations to be conducted entirely in Tamil. He noted that administrative empathy and grassroots problem-solving depend on officers rooted in local cultures and languages. Stalin pledged that the DMK would continue to vigorously advocate for regional language provisions across all central recruitment boards, ensuring that rural talent receives equal opportunities to serve the nation with distinction and pride.
