DMK condemns defamatory remarks published on the website of Defence Ministry of Sri Lanka, against PM @narendramodi & TN CM J.Jayalalitha.
Rising above partisan domestic political rivalries to defend national dignity, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on August 1, 2014, issued an unequivocal condemnation of derogatory remarks published on the official website of Sri Lanka's Ministry of Defence targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. Stalin stated that while political parties in Tamil Nadu maintain sharp ideological differences with both the ruling AIADMK and the central government, insults hurled by a foreign military establishment against India's constitutional authorities are completely intolerable. He noted that the disrespectful article laid bare the unrepentant chauvinism of the Sri Lankan military apparatus, which had consistently demonstrated contempt for human rights and Tamil aspirations. Stalin demanded that the Union Ministry of External Affairs lodge a forceful diplomatic reprimand and insist on an unconditional apology from the Sri Lankan government. He underlined that India's sovereignty, constitutional offices, and collective dignity cannot be compromised under any geopolitical circumstances. Stalin reiterated the DMK's steadfast resolve to champion democratic decencies, protect regional pride, and ensure that external entities treat Indian leadership with appropriate diplomatic courtesy.
