Celebrating the extraordinary life and multifaceted contributions of DMK President Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi on the occasion of his 91st birthday, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin inaugurated a grand photo exhibition titled 'Kalaignar 91' at party headquarters Anna Arivalayam in Chennai on July 31, 2014. The meticulously curated exhibition showcased hundreds of rare and historic photographs chronicling Karunanidhi's eight decades of public service, starting from his teenage activism during the Anti-Hindi agitations, his brilliant literary and cinematic masterpieces, his mentorship under Periyar and Anna, and his landmark tenures as Chief Minister. Stalin walked through the exhibition galleries alongside senior party leaders, scholars, and cadres, admiring the visual documentation of Tamil Nadu's modern political history. He emphasized that Karunanidhi's life embodies the triumph of rationalism, federal autonomy, and affirmative action for oppressed communities. Stalin observed that the exhibition offers an invaluable educational experience for younger generations, urging students, youth wing members, and citizens to visit the gallery to understand the immense struggles that shaped Tamil Nadu's social justice achievements, democratic progress, and cultural pride under Karunanidhi's visionary leadership throughout the past decades.
