Conducting an extensive review of party organization in northern Tamil Nadu, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin attended a major district cadres conference in Vellore on August 3, 2014. The convention brought together thousands of grassroots workers, trade unionists, and district committee members to deliberate on regional issues and strategize for future political battles. In his address, Stalin highlighted the severe crisis plaguing Vellore's crucial leather, tannery, and beedi industries, noting that acute power shortages, lack of modernized effluent treatment support, and administrative red tape under AIADMK rule were driving local businesses into insolvency and causing widespread unemployment. He held detailed discussions with booth agents and union secretaries to evaluate organizational readiness and address localized internal grievances. Stalin reminded the cadres that previous DMK governments under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi consistently championed industrial development and workers' welfare by establishing industrial estates and welfare boards. He exhorted the Vellore cadres to maintain constant dialogue with the public, lead grassroots demonstrations against governmental paralysis, and strengthen booth committees to secure a decisive victory for the Dravidian movement in forthcoming state elections across Tamil Nadu.
