Calling upon all conscientious citizens and DMK cadres to wear black attire in a unified expression of moral outrage, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin led a powerful statewide protest against Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa's appearance and address at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Stalin underscored that granting an international diplomatic platform to a head of state accused of heinous war crimes, mass atrocities, and genocidal destruction of Eelam Tamils was a grievous insult to global human rights and democratic conscience. He recalled that the catastrophic final stages of the civil conflict witnessed the brutal slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent Tamil civilians, deliberate bombing of designated no-fire zones, and pervasive human rights violations that remain uninvestigated by independent international bodies. Stalin expressed deep solidarity with Tamil diaspora communities protesting worldwide, asserting that global forums must not grant legitimacy to perpetrators of war crimes. He reiterated the DMK's steadfast demand for an independent international inquiry under UN auspices, demanding immediate justice, restoration of civil liberties, and political dignity for the Tamil community in Sri Lanka without compromise.
