Traveling to Cuddalore to attend a major party conference, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin made an unscheduled stop to meet with members of women's Self Help Groups established during the previous DMK government. The women gathered in large numbers to warmly greet Stalin, sharing their profound pride in having attained economic self-reliance through the flagship Mahalir Thittam initiated by Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi. However, they also voiced serious distress regarding current administrative hardships, pointing out that the AIADMK regime had systematically curtailed revolving fund subsidies, delayed bank credit renewals, and dismantled rural marketing exhibitions. Stalin listened attentively to each representation, praising the women for their entrepreneurial courage and mutual cooperation. He emphasized that the self-help movement represents one of the greatest socio-economic revolutions in modern Tamil Nadu, uplifting millions of families out of poverty and debt traps. Stalin assured the women that the DMK will fight vigorously inside and outside the legislature to force the government to restore their benefits. He promised that upon returning to power, the DMK will substantially expand credit subsidies, guarantee marketing linkages, and safeguard women's financial dignity.
