Personally visiting the Delta district of Tiruvarur following destructive monsoon downpours, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin met with the District Collector to submit a detailed formal representation demanding immediate distribution of crop insurance settlements and direct compensation to distressed farmers. Stalin highlighted that torrential rains had submerged tens of thousands of acres of samba and thaladi paddy crops, leaving small and marginal cultivators facing catastrophic financial ruin. He pointed out that despite repeated pleas from agrarian federations, district revenue authorities had failed to expedite field-level damage assessments, resulting in prolonged delays in relief distribution. Stalin urged the district administration to declare the affected zones as disaster-hit areas and coordinate directly with insurance companies to ensure hassle-free settlement of claims under agricultural insurance policies. He emphasized that the DMK stands unconditionally with the farming community, warning that agrarian distress triggers severe debt burdens, rural migration, and food shortages if left unaddressed. Stalin demanded that the government immediately sanction twenty-five thousand rupees per acre as direct input assistance, defer agricultural loan recoveries, and supply subsidized seeds and fertilizers to enable farmers to replant their submerged fields without delay.
