Extending wholehearted political backing to the statewide agitation organized by the Delta Farmers Federation, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin declared that the DMK will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Tamil Nadu's agricultural community to resist Karnataka's unilateral attempts to construct two dams across the Cauvery River at Mekedatu. Stalin highlighted that the proposed reservoir projects directly violate the final binding award of the Cauvery Water Disputes Tribunal, which explicitly prohibits upstream construction that impedes the natural flow of water to lower riparian states. He pointed out that impounding Cauvery waters at Mekedatu would permanently strangle irrigation supplies to the fertile Cauvery delta, devastating the livelihood of millions of farmers and triggering acute drinking water crises across twenty districts of Tamil Nadu. Stalin condemned the state AIADMK government for its lethargic, passive approach, which failed to secure firm central intervention or legally prevent Karnataka from preparing feasibility studies. He reiterated that the DMK would actively participate in all farmer agitations, bandhs, and legal challenges, vowing that the party will never permit any neighboring state to jeopardize Tamil Nadu's riparian entitlements and water sovereignty under any circumstances.
