Sharply condemning the callous and insensitive statement made by the Tamil Nadu Health Minister regarding the tragic deaths of multiple newborn infants at the Dharmapuri Government Medical College Hospital, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin demanded immediate governmental accountability and intervention. Over thirteen newborn babies had died within a span of five days at the hospital's neonatal intensive care unit, sparking widespread grief and public outrage across the state. Instead of ordering an urgent high-level inquiry, addressing critical shortages of pediatric specialists, and fixing defective medical equipment, the Health Minister shockingly dismissed the tragedy as a mere coincidence. Stalin characterized this flippant response as utterly deplorable and symptomatic of the ruling AIADMK government's complete indifference to public healthcare and human life. He pointed out that government hospitals, which serve impoverished families who cannot afford expensive private medical care, were suffering from severe underfunding, medicine stockouts, and broken infrastructure under the ruling regime. Stalin demanded the immediate suspension of culpable hospital administrators, comprehensive inspection of all state neonatal care units, and prompt payment of fair compensation to the devastated bereaved families without any bureaucratic delay.
