Expressing deep concern over escalating urban crime and pervasive administrative negligence, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin asserted that a complete breakdown of law and order under AIADMK rule had forced Chennai residents to live in constant fear. Stalin pointed to an alarming surge in violent crimes, daylight chain snatchings, house break-ins, gang rivalries, and extortion rackets across previously peaceful residential neighborhoods of the state capital. He highlighted that women, working professionals, and elderly citizens were increasingly terrified of walking on public streets due to the visible absence of police patrolling and deteriorating crime prevention mechanisms. Stalin emphasized that the police department, instead of focusing on civic safety and intelligence gathering, had been completely compromised by the ruling dispensation, being deployed primarily to suppress political dissent, monitor opposition activities, and safeguard ruling party hoardings. He noted that Chennai, celebrated as one of India's safest and most orderly metropolitan centers during previous DMK governance, was suffering severe reputational damage. Stalin demanded that the government immediately overhaul police administration, fill acute constable vacancies, intensify night patrols, and take ruthless action against criminal gangs to restore safety.
