Protesting outside the Legislative Assembly after opposition legislators were denied the floor, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin stated that DMK members attended the session with the earnest objective of debating urgent public crises and finding solutions for the people, but were systematically prevented from speaking. Stalin highlighted that Tamil Nadu was confronting severe challenges, including acute drinking water shortages, widespread crop damage, frequent power cuts, and steep increases in milk prices that hurt working families. However, the ruling AIADMK government, terrified of facing public scrutiny and answering questions on its policy failures, instructed the Speaker to mute opposition microphones and refuse discussions on crucial adjournment motions. Stalin condemned this high-handed conduct as a murder of legislative democracy, pointing out that an assembly that suppresses the opposition ceases to function as a representative democratic institution. He assured the people of Tamil Nadu that even if their voices were suppressed inside the legislative chamber, the DMK would take their legitimate grievances to the streets, holding massive statewide protests to demand governmental accountability, transparent democratic governance, and social justice for all sections of society.
