Hike in power tariff is adversely affecting the people & small industries. Govt is buying power at high rates, passing on burden to people.

Strongly condemning the steep electricity tariff hike announced by the state regulatory authority, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin slammed the AIADMK administration for inflicting unbearable financial burdens on ordinary citizens and small-scale industries. Stalin pointed out that the arbitrary tariff increase of fifteen to thirty percent would severely hurt middle-class domestic consumers, rural households, and micro, small, and medium enterprises already struggling to survive amidst chronic power cuts. He exposed the underlying financial mismanagement within the state electricity board, revealing that the ruling government had deliberately stalled state-owned thermal power projects while purchasing expensive electricity from favored private producers at exorbitant rates. Instead of improving administrative efficiency, curbing transmission losses, and commissioning delayed state generating stations, the regime was transferring the cost of its corrupt procurement practices onto the public. Stalin recalled that during previous DMK governance, agricultural power was provided completely free of cost and domestic tariffs were kept highly affordable to foster socio-economic welfare. He demanded that the state government immediately revoke the tariff hike, absorb financial deficits through budgetary support, and initiate a transparent probe into costly private power purchase contracts.
