Expressing deep anguish over the impending shutdown of electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn's production facilities in Sriperumbudur, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin slammed the AIADMK administration for shattering the career aspirations of thousands of young workers. Foxconn's closure, coming in the immediate aftermath of the tragic shutdown of Nokia's massive mobile handset manufacturing plant, dealt a devastating blow to Tamil Nadu's status as a global electronics manufacturing hub. Stalin highlighted that thousands of skilled technicians, assembly line workers, and small ancillary component suppliers were pushed into sudden joblessness due to the state government's complete failure to provide timely policy support, tax resolution, and infrastructural backing. He criticized the ruling regime for presiding over widespread industrial flight, pointing out that multinational manufacturers were actively abandoning Tamil Nadu for investor-friendly neighboring states. Stalin recalled how previous DMK governments under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi proactively nurtured the Sriperumbudur-Oragadam industrial corridor through streamlined clearances and dedicated power supply. He demanded that the state government immediately intervene at the highest diplomatic and corporate levels to halt factory closures, protect workforce livelihoods, and revitalize the state's electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
