While wishing TN people on Thiruvalluvar Day,I appeal to central govt to declare Thirukkural a 'National book' & honour sentiment of Tamils.
Extending warm festive greetings to the people of Tamil Nadu and the global Tamil diaspora on the auspicious occasion of Thiruvalluvar Day, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin urged the Union government to officially declare the immortal treatise Thirukkural as India's National Book. Stalin emphasized that the Thirukkural, authored by the venerated sage-poet Thiruvalluvar more than two millennia ago, represents a universal ethical code that transcends religious dogma, sectarian doctrines, and geographical boundaries. Its profound couplets articulate timeless principles of righteous governance, economic ethics, social compassion, personal morality, and human fraternity applicable to all humanity. Stalin pointed out that according national book status to Thirukkural would rightfully honor the ancient linguistic heritage of Tamil and fulfill a long-cherished cultural aspiration of the Tamil people. He recalled how the DMK government led by Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi immortalized the poet by constructing the magnificent Valluvar Kottam in Chennai and erecting the towering 133-foot stone statue at Kanyakumari. Stalin called upon the central government to recognize the universal philosophical depth of Thirukkural, integrating its humane values into the ethical fabric of the entire Indian nation.
