On national girl child day, let us defend her right to health and education. Let us pledge to protect her rights to live her dream.

Commemorating National Girl Child Day on January 24, 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin called upon all citizens to unite in defending every girl child's fundamental rights to nutritious health, quality education, and bodily safety. Stalin emphasized that girls represent the vibrant future of society and that a truly civilized nation is measured by how effectively it nurtures and protects its daughters. He urged communities to dismantle deep-rooted patriarchal biases that limit girls' personal choices, deny them equal nutritional care, or lead to tragic female foeticide. Stalin recalled that the Dravidian movement has always been a pioneering champion of female empowerment, establishing pioneering welfare measures including cradle baby alternatives, marriage grants linked to schooling, and reservations in higher education. He stressed that investing in a girl's comprehensive education and well-being produces cascading positive impacts across generations, breaking cycles of poverty and fostering social advancement. Stalin pledged that the DMK will persistently fight for robust legal protections, safe public infrastructure, and abundant educational avenues, ensuring that every young girl across Tamil Nadu possesses the unhindered freedom to live her life with pride, dignity, and accomplishment.
