Distasteful display of sycophancy. Crude and insulting portrayal of our state by showcasing a convicted person at Republic day celebration.
Denouncing the disgraceful exhibition of political sycophancy during the official Republic Day celebrations in Chennai, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin condemned the state government for showcasing portraits of convicted former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa on state tableaux and banners. Stalin asserted that Republic Day is a solemn constitutional occasion honoring the sovereignty of the nation, the supremacy of the Constitution, and the rule of law. Utilizing an official state parade funded by public tax revenues to project and glorify an individual convicted of massive corruption by a special court constituted an unforgivable insult to the Constitution. He stated that the crude portrayal degraded the dignity of Tamil Nadu before the entire nation, revealing how thoroughly democratic institutions had been subverted by ruling party subservience. Stalin remarked that the AIADMK's culture of blind idol-worship had crossed all civilized bounds, turning an auspicious national festival into a partisan spectacle. He called upon the Governor and constitutional authorities to intervene and uphold institutional decorum, reminding the ruling establishment that constitutional propriety and public morality must take precedence over political subservience and partisan sycophancy.
