Challenging the Union BJP government for its baffling reluctance to order a comprehensive CBI investigation into the estimated one-lakh-crore-rupee beach sand mineral scam in Tamil Nadu, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin questioned whether national security had been compromised for illicit corporate gains. Stalin pointed out that the unregulated extraction and clandestine export of monazite-rich mineral sands involved crucial raw materials utilized for India's strategic nuclear program. He remarked that allowing private mining barons to smuggle restricted nuclear minerals abroad without statutory tracking posed grave security risks and contravened atomic energy legislation. Stalin criticized the central leadership for preaching national security on public platforms while failing to take decisive investigative action against corporate conglomerates accused of plundering strategic coastal assets. He asked why central investigative agencies, otherwise remarkably swift in targeting political opponents, displayed total paralysis when dealing with influential mining lobbies backed by state ruling politicians. Stalin demanded an immediate, high-powered national security investigation headed by a sitting Supreme Court judge, emphasizing that commercial greed cannot be allowed to jeopardize the nation's sovereign interests, defense safety, and vulnerable coastal ecology across the state.
