Leading by example at a massive women's convention organized on International Women's Day in Chennai, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin administered and took a solemn gender equality pledge alongside thousands of attendees, making an impassioned appeal for every man to adopt it. Sharing photographs from the convention, Stalin emphasized that achieving true gender justice requires men to actively abandon patriarchal mindsets, reject dowry demands, respect female autonomy, and share domestic responsibilities equally. The pledge bound signatories to defend women against harassment in public and private spaces, support their educational and professional aspirations, and treat them as equal partners in all spheres of life. Stalin observed that while progressive legislation provides essential structural safeguards, lasting societal transformation is impossible without a profound moral and cultural shift within families and communities. He recalled how Thanthai Periyar passionately argued that women's liberation is the prerequisite for universal human emancipation. Stalin called upon youth, DMK cadres, and citizens across Tamil Nadu to embrace the pledge in their everyday conduct, thereby creating a safe, egalitarian, and progressive environment where women can pursue their goals with pride and freedom.
