Strongly condemning the shocking country-made bomb attack on the Chennai office of Tamil news television channel Puthiya Thalaimurai, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin demanded that the perpetrators of this assault on media freedom be brought to justice. Stalin noted that extremist groups had targeted the broadcasting office following a televised debate discussing gender rights and societal traditions, attempting to terrorize journalists into silence. He emphasized that in a civilized democratic society, disagreements with media content must be expressed through rational discourse, legal channels, or public debate, never through violent terror tactics and intimidation. The DMK, born out of rationalist social movements that fearlessly questioned orthodox traditions, stands resolutely for unrestricted freedom of speech and expression. Stalin warned that when extremist elements feel emboldened to bomb media establishments in the heart of Chennai, it reflects an alarming breakdown of law and order and intelligence vigilance under the AIADMK administration. He urged the state police to identify, arrest, and prosecute all conspirators behind the attack, demanding comprehensive security arrangements for media offices and working working journalists across the entire state without further administrative delays.
