Met Social activist Traffic Ramasamy at Royapettah hospital and enquired about his health. The unwarranted police action smacks of vendetta
Visiting octogenarian social activist 'Traffic' K. R. Ramaswamy at the Government Royapettah Hospital in Chennai, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin enquired about his medical condition and condemned the vindictive police action taken against him. Ramaswamy had been arrested, subjected to physical maltreatment, and hospitalized following his public campaigns against unauthorized banners, illegal cutouts, and hoardings erected across Chennai by ruling AIADMK functionaries. Stalin emphasized that Ramaswamy had dedicated his life to exposing civic violations, defending pedestrian safety, and fighting municipal corruption through lawful public interest petitions in the High Court. He noted that arresting an elderly, frail activist on fabricated charges merely for demanding compliance with court orders regarding illegal hoardings exposed the authoritarian mindset of the ruling dispensation. Stalin remarked that the police department was acting as an obedient partisan instrument of the AIADMK rather than upholding the rule of law. He demanded the immediate dropping of all vindictive charges against Ramaswamy and called upon civil society organizations to resist the state government's relentless attempts to silence anti-corruption crusaders and democratic voices throughout Tamil Nadu with courage, resolve, and constitutional conviction.
