Denouncing the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly budget session as a complete democratic farce, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin criticized the ruling AIADMK government for systematically suppressing debate on critical public concerns. Stalin highlighted that the state was confronting alarming economic headwinds, deteriorating industrial output, skyrocketing public debt exceeding one lakh crore rupees, worsening law and order conditions, and multi-crore departmental corruption scandals. However, whenever opposition legislators sought to raise these pressing issues during budget deliberations, the Speaker arbitrarily muted their microphones and disallowed substantive discussions to shield the ruling dispensation from scrutiny. Stalin noted that legislative sessions were being reduced to orchestrated rituals praising the ruling party leadership rather than functioning as genuine forums of democratic accountability and fiscal oversight. He pointed out that the AIADMK's financial mismanagement had derailed state finances, stalled infrastructure investments, and burdened future generations with crushing liabilities. Stalin asserted that a government terrified of legislative debate has forfeited its moral authority to govern. He declared that the DMK would continue taking these urgent economic and governance truths directly to the people through statewide campaigns and public rallies.
