Expressing profound solidarity with differently abled persons staging a determined sit-in demonstration in Chennai, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin visited the protest venue to personally listen to their pressing grievances and developmental demands. Protesters had assembled in large numbers demanding an increase in the monthly maintenance allowance from one thousand to three thousand rupees, full implementation of statutory employment reservations across government departments, and accessible public transport facilities. Stalin sat among the demonstrators, offering his complete support and expressing deep pain at witnessing vulnerable citizens forced onto the streets in sweltering heat to claim basic human dignity. He criticized Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and his cabinet colleagues for refusing to meet the protesters or hold constructive discussions to resolve their demands. Stalin recalled that during previous DMK governments, Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi created a dedicated welfare department for differently abled persons, enhanced specialized reservations, and introduced comprehensive assistive equipment distribution schemes. Stalin demanded that the state administration immediately initiate dialogue, accept the protesters' charter of demands without delay, and fulfill its constitutional obligations toward protecting the dignity, welfare, and livelihood security of differently abled citizens.
