DMK requested postponement of assembly tomorrow to support farmers agitation against megathadu dam.ADMK refused to support farmers agitation
Expressing deep dismay and outrage over the AIADMK government's refusal to adjourn the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly in solidarity with the statewide farmers' agitation against Karnataka's proposed Mekedatu dam, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin condemned the ruling party's betrayal of agrarian interests. Stalin noted that farmers' associations and political parties had called for a comprehensive statewide shutdown on March 28, 2015 to demonstrate unified Tamil resistance against Karnataka's unilateral attempts to construct a reservoir across the Cauvery River. The DMK had formally requested that the assembly session be adjourned for a single day so that all legislators could actively participate in the protests and send an unequivocal message to New Delhi. However, the ruling regime obstinately refused to cooperate, demonstrating shocking indifference to the existential plight of delta agriculturists. Stalin emphasized that the Mekedatu reservoir would permanently strangle water inflows into Tamil Nadu, turning the fertile Cauvery delta into an arid desert and threatening the drinking water security of millions. He reiterated that the DMK would wholeheartedly participate in the bandh and agitations to defend the state's riparian entitlements and agrarian heritage.
