Calling upon the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India to firmly uphold net neutrality, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin asserted that cyberspace must remain an open, non-discriminatory medium dedicated to public welfare rather than corporate profit. Stalin cautioned against proposed telecom frameworks that would permit service providers to charge differential tariffs for website access or bundle preferred applications into exclusive commercial packages. He stressed that such predatory practices would stifle India's emerging startup ecosystem, restrict freedom of choice for consumers, and penalize educational initiatives that rely on unhindered data flows. Stalin reminded regulators that the internet was developed as an open global commons and that statutory bodies have a constitutional obligation to protect consumer rights against monopolistic telecom cartels. He emphasized that the Dravidian movement's commitment to universal access and egalitarian public resources applies directly to digital spaces in the twenty-first century. Stalin urged TRAI to reject all corporate proposals that compromise equal traffic treatment, demanding enforceable regulations that protect net neutrality and guarantee that digital connectivity serves the broader national interest, technological innovation, and democratic inclusion across every community in India.
