Visiting coastal Nagapattinam to engage directly with local fishing communities, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin met with representatives of various fishermen associations to hear their pressing grievances and developmental demands. During the discussions, community elders highlighted the severe existential challenges confronting coastal families, including unprovoked attacks and unlawful detentions by the Sri Lankan Navy, inadequate diesel subsidies, and extended ban-period economic hardship. They also stressed the urgent necessity for modern harbor infrastructure, desilting of river mouths, and fair compensation for damaged fishing vessels and nets. Stalin patiently listened to their representations and assured the fishermen that the DMK stands resolutely behind them in their struggle for justice, maritime safety, and dignified livelihoods. He pledged that the DMK would raise their issues forcefully inside the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and in Parliament, demanding immediate state and central interventions. Stalin condemned the ruling AIADMK government for neglecting the coastal belt, reaffirming the DMK's historic commitment to defending the maritime rights and economic empowerment of Tamil Nadu's fishing fraternity across every legislative and public platform, ensuring their safety, dignity, and collective economic prosperity are firmly secured.
