TRAI has received an overwhelming response on the net neutrality issue. Urge the Govt to ensure that net neutrality is not compromised.
Lending powerful political support to the nationwide movement defending net neutrality, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin urged the Union government and telecom regulatory authorities to ensure digital freedom remains uncompromised. Stalin noted with satisfaction that over one million citizens had submitted petitions to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, demonstrating the widespread public demand for an open, unhindered cyberspace. He warned against attempts by large telecom conglomerates to create discriminatory pricing structures, throttled bandwidths, or exclusive corporate portals that distort market competition and restrict free information flows. Stalin emphasized that such exclusionary business models would severely stifle young digital entrepreneurs, cripple local software startups, and penalize economically disadvantaged citizens seeking free educational content online. The DMK, with its progressive ethos of equal opportunity and democratization of knowledge, stands unequivocally against digital gatekeeping. Stalin insisted that the central government enact unequivocal statutory guarantees ensuring all online data packets receive equal treatment without commercial discrimination. He concluded that preserving net neutrality is indispensable for safeguarding innovation, free expression, and equitable technological progress across the Indian republic, ensuring that technological progress benefits all citizens equally.
