Another farmer suicide in TN. How many deaths will it take for ADMK govt to wake up to reality of our agrarian crisis
Expressing profound grief and indignation over another tragic farmer suicide in Tamil Nadu, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin sharply criticized the AIADMK administration for turning a blind eye to the worsening rural distress. Stalin questioned how many more agrarian lives would have to be lost before the state government acknowledged the depth of the agricultural crisis gripping Tamil Nadu. Prolonged dry spells, erratic monsoon patterns, severe water shortages in the Cauvery basin, and mounting institutional debts had pushed agrarian families to the brink of financial ruin. Stalin condemned the ruling government for failing to declare drought-hit areas, waive outstanding agricultural loans, or release adequate compensation packages for crop failures. He recalled that during previous DMK administrations, pioneering agricultural relief policies, including the historic waiver of seven thousand crore rupees in cooperative farm loans, had revitalized rural livelihoods. Stalin urged the state government to immediately halt coercive loan recovery actions by financial institutions, deliver comprehensive financial relief to families of deceased farmers, and enact holistic support measures to safeguard agrarian self-respect and economic survival across Tamil Nadu with genuine institutional compassion.
