Nauseating conduct by ADMK councillors in Salem. They almost beat to death Deivalingam of DMK for requesting them to resume work.

Expressing absolute disgust and outrage over shocking violence inside a civic body in late May 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin condemned the sickening conduct of AIADMK councillors in the Salem Municipal Corporation. During an official council meeting, DMK councillor Deivalingam was brutally set upon and beaten almost to death by ruling party members simply because he politely requested that the council resume scheduled proceedings to address pressing public civic grievances. Stalin denounced the murderous attack as an unprecedented desecration of democratic local governance, pointing out that elected representatives had been reduced to violent mobs operating under the explicit patronage of senior ruling ministers. The victim sustained grave injuries and required emergency hospitalization while civic officials and police personnel failed to intervene to protect him. Stalin demanded that the police register non-bailable cases of attempted murder against all AIADMK councillors involved in the lynching attempt and disqualify them from public office immediately. He warned that if prompt legal action was not taken, the DMK would launch massive statewide agitations to expose the criminal thuggery paralyzing municipal governance and municipal administration across the state.
