DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin registered a vehement public condemnation on June 22, 2015, exposing the brazen abuse of state power and violation of democratic election norms by ruling AIADMK ministers in the R.K. Nagar assembly constituency ahead of the upcoming by-election. Stalin exposed that state ministers were coercing local educational institutions and school administrations into violating statutory regulations to facilitate Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's election campaign.
Stalin disclosed that school grounds, classrooms, and school buses were being commandeered by ruling party functionaries, disrupting classes, threatening school managements with license cancellations, and endangering the academic routine of young students. Additionally, teachers and educational staff were pressured to arrange welcoming receptions, turning educational sanctuaries into partisan political arenas. Stalin criticized the Election Commission for turning a blind eye to these flagrant transgressions of the Model Code of Conduct.
Stalin asserted that compromising child welfare and corrupting educational institutions for cheap political aggrandizement demonstrated utter moral decay. He demanded that the Election Commission take immediate suo motu cognizance, deploy neutral central observers, and initiate strict criminal action against the offending AIADMK ministers without fear or favor.
