DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin issued a stern warning to the AIADMK administration on July 22, 2015, highlighting that the prolonged, unconstitutional delay in convening the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly had caused acute policy paralysis across all governance sectors. Stalin warned that if the state government failed to summon the Assembly immediately to debate urgent public issues, DMK legislators would launch intense democratic protests on the streets.
Stalin pointed out that several months had elapsed without a legislative sitting, effectively shutting down the primary constitutional forum where people's representatives could question the executive on critical crises, including severe drinking water shortages, agrarian distress, power outages, and deteriorating law and order. The Jayalalithaa regime was deliberately evading legislative accountability, treating the Assembly as an inconvenient ceremonial body rather than the supreme democratic institution of the state.
Stalin declared that the opposition would not remain silent spectators while governance was paralyzed by executive apathy. He demanded that the Governor and Speaker immediately convene the House to facilitate open legislative debate on the problems confronting ordinary citizens across Tamil Nadu without any further unconstitutional delays.
