DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin announced the formal launch of 'Namakku Naame' (We for Ourselves), a transformative statewide grassroots outreach campaign, scheduled to commence on September 25, 2015, from Kanyakumari, the southern tip of the Indian peninsula. Stalin revealed that the unprecedented mass contact tour would traverse all 234 legislative assembly constituencies across Tamil Nadu, enabling him to meet ordinary citizens face-to-face, listen to their everyday hardships, and collect developmental suggestions directly.
Stalin emphasized that the initiative was conceived to radically redefine democratic engagement in the state by replacing traditional political rallies with authentic, unscripted dialogues. Rather than delivering lectures from barricaded platforms, Stalin planned to walk through village markets, agricultural farmlands, bus stands, industrial estates, and colleges, engaging directly with farmers, handloom weavers, small traders, women's self-help groups, and unemployed youths.
Stalin asserted that 'Namakku Naame' would function as a collaborative movement to restore self-respect, rebuild shattered public infrastructure, and draft a participatory people's manifesto for the 2016 Assembly elections. He invited citizens from every community to join hands and reclaim progressive governance for Tamil Nadu across all 234 assembly segments.
