DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin launched a scathing attack on the AIADMK government's industrial management on August 27, 2015, strongly criticizing the ruling regime for postponing the much-hyped Global Investors Meet (GIM) three consecutive times. Stalin pointed out that conducting the event barely six months prior to the 2016 Assembly elections exposed the summit as a desperate public relations stunt filled with empty promises, rather than a credible economic revival initiative.
Stalin highlighted that Tamil Nadu's industrial ecosystem, which had flourished as a premier manufacturing destination under successive DMK governments, had suffered severe structural decline under the Jayalalithaa regime. Chronic power shortages, bureaucratic paralysis, rampant extortion, and delays in statutory clearances had driven prominent multinational corporations and domestic industrial houses to relocate massive investment projects to neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, causing widespread youth unemployment.
Stalin noted that signing unverified Memorandums of Understanding on paper without providing stable infrastructure, reliable power, or investor security would never produce tangible factories or jobs. He pledged that an incoming DMK administration will restore industrial credibility, guarantee single-window clearances, and attract genuine manufacturing investments to Tamil Nadu.
