Reflecting the rich cultural, religious, and economic diversity of Kanyakumari district on the second day of his historic Namakku Naame outreach campaign in September 2015, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin conducted intensive multi-stakeholder consultations. Stalin held meaningful dialogues with prominent spiritual leaders and community elders from Hindu, Christian, and Muslim communities, underscoring the Dravidian movement's foundational commitment to secularism, communal brotherhood, and equal respect for all faiths. Turning to economic issues, Stalin met with traditional coastal fishermen, who shared their vulnerabilities regarding maritime hazards, international border detentions, and inadequate harbor infrastructure along the Arabian Sea coast. He also engaged with coconut farmers from the fertile interior belts, who presented urgent representations regarding devastating root-wilt disease epidemics and the urgent need for a government copra procurement and coir processing industrial hub. Local merchants and college students voiced their aspirations for modern educational infrastructure and local industrial employment. Stalin assured the diverse delegations that their empirical feedback would form the cornerstone of the DMK's forthcoming election manifesto, pledging inclusive, secular, and progressive governance that guarantees prosperity and social dignity for every resident of Kanyakumari district.
